This has been a trend since granola bars became popular in the 70's.

"Don't give your kids chocolate bars, give 'em Granola Bars instead!"

"What? They don't like the taste of granola? Okay, mix the granola with marshmallows and corn syrup, and dip the whole thing in chocolate!
By god, we're gonna get these kids healthy if it kills 'em!!!"

I can't help but wonder what marketing strategy involves promoting the idea that 
"Most families can't stand this product, so if you cover it with jelly, they'll be tricked into eating it!"
